The Festivus for the rest of us!
The airing of the grievances shall now begin....
Actually, right now, there's not too much I'm unhappy about. Yeah, I hate all the prep work for the holidays but when it comes down to it I'm lucky and grateful to have the friends and family that I do. And thank goodness for internet shopping!! I never have to step into a mall again.
For me it's an extended holiday season which starts in November and ends at the end of January. November has Thanksgiving, December has Xmas/Hannukah and January has Chinese New Year. Not to mention 6 birthdays sprinkled thoroughout those 3 months.
I'm pooped just thinking about it!
On another note, I've also reached a milestone in my gaming career. I've hit level 50 (the highest level possible) on City of Heroes. It only took me about a year :P I might have been done faster but I have way too many toons that I play regularly. The developers gave us cool jetpacks for this holiday season. All twinkly and frosty with pretty sound effects. I love them...they are SO cute! :)
Anyway, I just want to thank all the great friends I've made this past year on COH especially those I met at the Paragon Dance Party on Justice (Justice Radio rocks!) and those I met on Victory. A special shout out to my big devil of a tanker/brute who makes me the blaster/corrupter I am. :)
Happy Holidays to everyone...and I think surviving the holidays can count as a "Feats of Strength" :)
Welcome to the Leisure Lounge! A place to chill, be with friends and wax philosophical about the world at large. So hang out, relax and have fun. Grab a pillow and a spot by the fireplace and enjoy. Course I'll put up stuff related to my obsessions and other interesting things I find in and around the internet. Poke around all you want.

And a spooky BOO to you all...
Hey guys,
I've been wanting to post but haven't found the time to write up stuff but Halloween seemed so appropriate.
BTW, When I first started my blog and told a friend I was doing it he said something along the lines of how every blog ends up to be a whinefest. I was determined not to do that so I post fewer but less whiney posts. :)
My Obsessions:
The Yankees - I didn't feel they had "it" this season but I'm looking forward to number 27. We'll get them next year! :)
Joss Whedon - (no spoilers)
Saw the film "Serenity" based on the TV show "Firefly". Very cool and so many funny lines! It's doubtful it will come back as a TV show but I wouldn't mind a series of movies.
COH - My playtime is still going strong and now with City Of Villains out there's even more to play! And one of the best parts, brand new costumes!
Admittedly there are some directions the game has gone that I do not like (Enhancement diversification I'm talking about you!) but so far I'm enjoying the game and hope the Devs re-tweak some of the changes to mitigate them.
And like any game, it's the people I play with that really matter. So a shout out to my supergroups on Victory server, my new home away from home:
Good Guys Coalition (COH)
Death and Mayhem Nation (COV)
And a special shoutout to my calamari.....you know who you are ;)

Time flies...
Although not all of it has been fun since my last post.
Enjoyed Cape May. It's a pretty beach town with lots of old Victorian homes. It was HOT the week we were there and the water was so warm even -I- could go in quickly. Dolphins like to play near the shore and my son discovered that if you stick you head under the water you can hear them talk. Very cool.
On July 26, Alex (Al to his friends), a gaming friend passed away. He was all of 39. :(
He was one of my friends who urged me to try City of Heroes and when he felt something was wasting his time he would mutter to himself, "I could be gaining levels".
He definitely had a unique view of the world and it was nice to see at his memorial service that he had so many friends who appreciated it.
I remember in our D and D group, he was our cleric and he tried to convince our GM that he did not get his powers from any particular deity. He just wanted his powers to exist. And even though he was the cleric, he was the most morally lax of the entire group. If an NPC didn't prove useful he was the first to say "Kill him" LOL.
But that was Al. You'll be missed dearly.
Rest in Peace Al and I'll gain a couple of levels for you.

ToonTown Heroes - Make Over Edition!
Right now City of Heroes is a big part of my life and I spend a lot of time there. I started on the Justice server where I am still going strong. The game has a feature where you can take screenshots so I've taken pics of some of my many toons (the ones I play regularly anyway -- Curse you Alt-oholism!) and the various costumes they have so far. Each toon has up to 4 costume slots which open up as you gain levels. Making costumes is one of the fun parts of playing and I can spend HOURS getting just the right look. I got introduced to COH by my good friend Lady Miri so the costume slots of my first toon are dedicated to her. Whatever she requests I'll do my best to create. Please feel free to look through the galllery.
Make comments on them if you want. I'd like to see what works and what doesn't in the costume making business.
Vote for your favorite one (via the comments section)!
I'll keep a running count and post the numbers every once in a while.
On another note, someone pointed out a COH music video website: http://maximilia.net
Click "videos" on the leftside frame. Number 10 is the best done and funniest one. I will only say two words: Dancing Freaks *giggle*
Thanks Mr. and Ms. Abyss for the great work.

Obsesssion, Addictions and Other Fun Stuff
If you know me at all you know that I have a few obsess....er....HOBBIES...yeah that's it.
- I am a die-hard NY Yankees fan (http://www.yankees.com) and have been since Reggie hit those three homeruns in game six of the 1977 World Series. Let's go for number 27 guys!
- I am a HUGE Joss Whedon fan. He is the creator of the TV shows, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel," and "Firefly." He's one I trust for quality TV which is rare in these days of crappy reality TV. There are a TON of Buffy websites but one of my favorites is: http://carnal-sins.net since I'm a spuffy kinda gal. And check Joss Whedon out at: http://www.whedonesque.com I also can't wait for the new Firefly movie "Serenity"! Firefly fans congregate here: http://www.browncoats.com
- I am a Ares/Xena shipper. One of the best virtual seasons sites I've ever found is: http://www.roachsrealm.com/shipperseasons/
- As noted before, I'm into gaming. I'm a long time player of Mozart MUD (http://mozartmud.com) and I've recently gotten into City of Heroes (http://www.coh.com) where I can be found on the Justice server. Aside from computer gaming I'll do tabletop as well and I'm currently in a Shadowrun game. Yeah, I'm weird...a girl who likes to game.
I have other hobbies and interests but those are the big ones for now. I'll post more later.

Evolution of the Lounge
First a little history about the story of my nickname and why this is called the Leisure Lounge.
Many eons ago, back when you were allowed three initials in the top score of a video game, I did not have three initials to use but I wanted to make full use of the three spaces provided so I used: LUK
A few years later in 1986 when I discovered chatting on Relay (the ancient BITnet version...none of that newfangled internet IRC stuff) I created the screen name Ladyluck. I had my own channel named "Ladyluck's Leisure Lounge" as a play on a popular game at the time "Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards"
A few years after that in the early 90s, I discovered MUDs. I became enamored of one mud in particular, Mozart MUD (http://mozartmud.com), where I worked my way to godhood and became Patron Goddess of Newbies. My virtual offices on the Mozart were named "Ladyluck's Leisure Lounge" as well because why mess with a classic? ;)
I now frequent the mmorpg "City of Heroes" (http://www.coh.com) where my global name is: Lady Luck
I haven't made a channel there yet but I felt I needed a Lounge on the net for my friends to stop by CoH or not. So here we are the full evolution of this site.

Welcome to the infamous Leisure Lounge!
Just a spot for my friends to hang out, relax and have fun.
So grab a pillow and a spot by the fireplace and enjoy.
Course I'll put up stuff related to my obsessions and other
interesting things I find in and around the internet.
Poke around all you want.
I'll chat with you later!
